*gWenja: wouldn't work (there's no way of getting from *e to <o>). One could
consider vr.ddhied *gWe:nja: (cf. Germanic *kwe:ni-), but if we explain
<zonj�> in this way, we're left with no means of explaining <zot>, and any
etymology that focusses on one of these paired terms and ignores the other
is suspect, given the fact that masculine *pot(-i)- and feminine *pot-ni-h2
are a very ancient and well-attested pair showing a strikingly similar
correspondence.
