Oh yeah, I forgot. How to tell <I> (mjagkij znak) from <U> (tvërdyj znak).
In a serifless font, it's easy. The <I> is just like a small <b>, the <U>
has a sidebar to the left.
(View with fixed-width font):

Problem is when serif or cursive fonts are used. The <I> now starts to
look a bit like a sans-serif <U>, but not to worry, the <U> should be
extended as well. Something like:
