And esp. "chicken," e.g. <carne de pui>, and not *carne de

pulyka ['puj-kO] in Hungarian means "turkey." A loan < Rum.
pui? I don't know. (But regional, colloquial <pulya> (or
<puja>?) ['pu-jO] must be < Rum. pui. And it has most of
the same connotations (and a bit derogatory).

-ka (along with -ke) in Hungarian is in general a suffix
for diminutive variants of nouns and adj.
