It's the same meaning. A "real brother" (frater germanus, frater verus) is
someone who has the same parents as you have. A "real cousin" (consobrinus
verus, germanus) or "first cousin" (consobrinus primus) is a son of your
father's or mother's real brothers or sisters. In Spanish, a brother is an
<hermano> (original meaning "real") and a cousin is a <primo> (original
meaning "first"). In Catalan, <germà> "brother" and <cosí germà> "first
cousin" (more distant cousins are called <cosins valencians> in my dialect,
but I don't think that's general Catalan).
