That's all very well, but we were discussing the etymology of the
suffix, not its modern functions. A suffix borrowed from Slavic or from
mediaeval Romance may have developed all these functions easily. There
are other Slavic suffixes that combine freely with native Albanian
bases, e.g. -ishtë, -kë and -ak.

What's this got to do with *-a:rius!?

'Support' and 'carry' are _completely different_?? The derivatives of
PIE *bHer- and their reflexes in lots of languages express both
meanings! As regards their origin, the etymology of <mbaj> < m- +
*-bHor-ejo: isn't mine, though I happen to accept it (and I'm not alone,
I presume). I took it from Cimochowski.
