Today's standard Romanian "biserica" < "besearica"
[be-'sea-ri-ka], which is the older, traditional
variant.

BTW, unlike the Rumansh and Vegliot variants,
the Romanian ones are rhotacized (l > r). This
phenomenon is quite old; seemingly less or
no longer productive during the Slavic impact.
