At least Pope Inocentius belived they are descendents of romans, but he
was not too sure since he begin with " it is said that you are the
descendents of the romans and ... stuff" in his letters to Kaloian.

BTW since it seems you read just some hipothesis on the topic, I am
interested to know how the bulgarian history presents the vlacho-bulgaro
Empire and of course what about the origins of Asens.
