OK, lemme rephrase it: before the spoken language of Romance
regions could no longer been caled Latin (extended "moment" from
which one can speak about Proto-Romance), it was still Latin. Not
necessarily and mostly Classical Latin but Vulgar Latin, from the
early times up to Late Latin (2nd-4th centuries A.D. with large
approximation). Most persons who spoke that idiom were native
speakers of a language which can be called Latin.
