Not "pom-," but "pom". Along with "pomet" and "poamã" (fruit).
As in Latin et al. Romance languages, in Romanian, the suffix
"-et-" is typical for a multitude of trees. Pom and poamã have
Romanian derivations (e.g. pomitzél, pomi$ór, pomítzã,
pomilá, pomãrít, pomãí(t)). Pomicol, pomicultor,
pomiculturã, pomacée are late neologisms; but they fit in
the old Romanian "pom" family. [My accents: so show where
the stress falls.]
