I have to make clear what was first. Was first the e > â before nasal or
was first the palatalization? If first e > â then it is right *gântã
If first the palatalisation then gintã via gentis > g^ente > g^inte >
g^intã
There is a "gintã" but not inherited even if DEX gives it as from latin
"gentis".
I guess this is a later "adaptation " and not a inherited one.
