In case there's any lingering doubt as to whether Gmc. *au may be reflected as Slavic *u, compare the following:
lukU 'onion' <-- Gmc. *lauka- (cf. Eng. leek, ON laukr, Ger. Lauch);
nuto 'livestock' <-- Gmc. *nauta- (cf. OE ne:at, ni:eten, ON naut, OHG no:z);
lugU/luga 'lye' <-- Gmc. *laugo: (cf. OE lye, ON laug, Ger. Lauge).
