The name "Troy" is certainly not Romanian. Troy dates back to
3500 BCE afterall. When I last left the problem of the name,
I concluded that Troy derives ultimately from "Taru". The reason
behind this is that Taru happens to be the Hattic storm god,
and it seems appropriate to dedicate a city by the water to a
potentially vengeful storm god. Unfortunately, such a dedication
obviously didn't offer protection against war.
