Didn't you know? Indo-Europeans were avid fans of the Pet Shop
Boys. (I also think they loved Abba, Barbara Streisand and the
Village People but I could be biased a little.)

Perhaps the neolithic population was temporarily overtaken by
IE-speaking nomadic people (say, by 4500 BCE), then the IEs
partly adopted the lifestyle themselves (say, by 4000 BCE).
Then, because they now covered a large area thanks to their
previous nomadism, the Indo-European languages became
increasingly popular well into Europe. Just a thought.
