Thanks. <tz> looks like a single grapheme because of the apparent
voicing difference, but <ts> looks as though it might be plain <t>
followed by plain <s>.

What stopped stressed tautosyllabic /Tea/ simplifying to /Ta/ as in
terra 'ground' > tzarã? The /ea/ arises either from breaking of /ie/
(<E) or from the fall of /ll/.
