Actually, _if_ the phrase "Torna, torna, fratre!" very often quoted
by scholars belongs to (Proto-)Romanian, one could drop the "*"; but
at least for PBR, the word "fratre" seems undoubtfully atested.

It gave. In fact, Romanian knows both forms (oaspe, oaspete).
