dyau-pitar is the Sanskrit counterpart of the European Juppiter and Zeus. All the three words are cognates. Dyaus in Sanskrit (or IE) means sky, and pitar is father.
dyau-pitar = zeus (djeus) = jup-piter all referred to the "sky-god" of the Indo-Europeans.
Can some one list out all the other Gods common to the Vedic and Graeco-Roman pantheons. Apart from the obvious mitra of course.

Wasn't there an Indian god 'Dyashpitar' or something
similar?
I assume this god is somehow connected with Jupiter and Zeus.
