[George:]Neither have I. But there is good evidence that

[Moller]: I should like to go a bit deeper into this one. We all talk about
dacians and that they have beend destroyed or not. I just want to remember
just one
thing that it seems to me, somehow, we forget about. The Dacians
were a important tribe or union of the Getae. They never have been ALL the
getae.
And the romans destroyed ( if they did) just the dacians. We
have no records of the destructions of getae so far. And we know some more.
We know
the borders of Dacia after the roman conquest, and the facts
that even out of these borders, there were plenty of dacians and
getae.(carpians , free
dacians and so on.)
As the Goths are comming , a lot of ancient writters tell us
about the getae and dacians who prefered to reamain to live with the goths
instead to leave ( see for example Slavinus). As the
fact that the "word" Getae disappered, this happens to be even in the time
of roman conquest. The focus, the point of interst at this
time for the ancient world were not the getae anymore, but the dacians as
Rome's enemies.
After the roman withdrwal, the people who controlled the
getae-dacian homelands gave the name of these land too. We know about
Gepidia, Gothia and so on.My opinion is, this one
reflect just the fact the rulling class was at the respectively time the
goths, the gepidae, the avars , the pecenges,
the cummans, and at last the magyars.
To point out. The dacians were just a part of getae. If the
dacians were destroyed ( we can assume it) the getae have been not
destroyed.
At least not by romans and goths. The only one who could destroy
them were the huns. But do we have such records of huns
destroying the getae? I dont know about such records so I gues
they did not distroyed them.
It seems we have records of huns as rulling class over dacians.
I wonder about your opinion.
