I remember some of
you! I was a member of this list last year, and when I found one of my
posts in a Google search for Nostratic or something I forgot, I decided to come
back.
About me. I'm not
a linguist or an archaeologist; I'm an aspiring writer, musician, inventor, game
designer. In other words, I'm unemployed. I just happen to have an
interest in languages, including proto-languages (specifically the theorized
Nostratic families) and constructed languages (short form "conlangs").
Only language I can speak that well is Spanish; I just dabble in Russian,
French, Arabic, Urdu, Georgian, Korean, Irish etc. For some reason
I'm obsessed with phonology. Maybe it's the musician in me; I'm attracted
to the acoustic elements of language...
My current project is
one or more IE-based conlangs for an RPG project I got going. I'm
also *trying* to come up with a global IAL more or less based on the top six
languages in the world (four of them being IE: English, Spanish, Russian,
Hindi-Urdu; the others are Arabic and Mandarin).
Sláinte,
Danny
