There is an unresolved patent dispute holding up standardization on how
to do that. AFAIK it is *not* safe to expect that your DNS server will
be able to resolve such a thing.

But it has been a while since registries have taken people's money to
reserve names in anticipation of being able to use them. Probably about
5 years IIRC.
