Some years ago, I started to become a bit more serious, and bought some
(iirc) genko-washi paper at Yoshinoya (a variety store, high quality) just
off CentralĀ² in Cambridge. Have almost forgotten what it looks like,
though. I s.t.r. some light-tinted "wide-stroke" squares or rectangles for
each character.

Btw, I found that writing hiragana, so it looks decent, is incredibly
difficult for a novice! At least, that was my limited experience. On the
rare occasions when I copy some CJK into my totally-eclectic notebook, I
have a hard time with overall size and spacing of the various parts of any
complex character. This is surely of no surprise whatsover to many
Qalamites.

Best regards,
