Because they're in a 'local' (i.e. Cypriot?) form of the alphabet,
apparently ancestral to the Greek alphabet? Given the Phoenician
settlements and the presence of the native Eteocypriot language,
calling them 'Greek' may be stretching the term a bit. Could you make
