I haven't much personal experience with Spanish literacy but I did
find thiis website which I have copied out of consideration for
those who don't follow links. I wonder if maybe dyslexia in Spanish
has been underrated.

First Dyslexia Conference

Palma – Mallorca

27/28 November 2004

Bernadette McLean (Academic Director) and Rosie Wood (Executive
Director) were delighted to accept an invitation to speak at the
first Spanish Dyslexia conference in Mallorca. The event was
organised by DISFAM, an organisation formed three years ago to
promote support for dyslexic people, and in particular, children.

The conference was impressive – Georgina and Aracelli, we think
you're amazing! 560 delegates attended the weekend to hear
presentations from dyslexia specialists from the UK, with a final –
and very moving – panel of dyslexic, Spanish children explaining to
the audience their difficulties, their skills, hopes and
aspirations. It seems that the Spanish education system does not yet
recognise and support pupils with SpLD. The many teachers at the
conference were keen to learn ways in which dyslexia could be
assessed and the right provision made.
