All descriptions of Cree phonology start by saying Cree has 7 vowels,
4 long and 3 short. Some say length is contrastive, others say there
are 7 vowels of different qualities. I have to give up here because
I don't know the answer.

Sorry about the poor snipping. It was not intentional, I just didn't
scroll up to check the "who wrote" before posting. Do you read about
dyslexia? I have known C.K. Leung through a personal connection, but
wasn't sure if he was well recognized in the field.
