There should not have been a pulli on the first consonant -
definitely not allowed - so 'kari' Short 'u' is transliterated with
the short 'a' vowel. Depends which application I am running how the
pulli goes on or off so I sometimes accidently forget to remove it.
Uniscribe sometimes gives me grief too. Don't know why.
