new version of Ifrah

Qalamites (US ones, anyway) might like to know that there's yet a third
version of Georges Ifrah's book on numbers available in English. First
there was *From One to Zero* (1984), from the first French edition. Then
there was the very large *Universal History of Numbers* (2000), which I
recently saw remaindered.

But now, the Strand Annex in New York City has several copies of a
three-volume boxed set, also dated 2000, from a British publisher, where
the first two volumes duplicate in smaller format the single volume from
2000 (and are continuously paginated), but the third volume is about
numbers and computers, beginning again with p. 1 and chap. 1, but noting
that references to chaps. 1-27 are to the first (two) volume(s).

The price printed on the slipcase is £50 (GBP); Strand's price is $15.95
(USD). Presumably they'd be happy to sell it to you from
www.strandbooks.com .
