to be honest (my bad) he mentions different Greek
"Kulturgüter" that have been found in the Kingdom
of Meroe. He quotes Fischer, too. The Greek alphabet
was also found in the kingdom of Meroe. However,
the Meroitic alep seems to stand for the glottal stop, too,
so that doesn't really seem very Greek to me. The syllabic
graphemes also rule out Greek influence. But of course,
all alphabets with vowel symbols are basically Greek
for Haarmann who also claims that the symbols found at
Vinca constitute a writing system. (hence, his "ex
occidente lux" theory). "We are all Greeks" (Shelley)
