I was showing some slides of early writing/letterforms to my students
and one of the slides was of Sanskrit. The letterforms were written
out in black. Between a sequence of letterforms was a red pi-like
symbol. What is this? and what was its function? There was no "other"
word spacing in the text whatsoever. Quite beautiful.
