A better question (for me at least) would be is there a rule about what
charset to use on this list? If so, it's not obvious from the group webpage.
Considering the list's topic, UTF-8 would seem a perfect choice if a choice
of a single charset is necessary at all.

I found Marco's use of the actual characters an absolute relief, even though
this program (Pegasus Mail) doesn't cope with UTF-8 at all. Previously I had
been copying text to Word and running a macro to decode the U+ codes. Now I
can just save the message & open it in Outlook Express.

I must admit I'm still fairly sceptical about the utility of a decomposed
(?!) coding. So far, the benefits seem to be
- reduced font size
- ability to add (spell) new/custom characters
- easier to sort by radical or component
On the downside we have
- increased complexity (extra non-printing characters)
- the ability to spell/mispell characters different ways

Have I missed anything?
