I know, but the choice of "palatalised" as a shape-of-the-tongue feature
is not particularly felicitous. My introspective judgement as a native
speaker with a good deal of phonetic training is that
"anterodorso-prepalatal" is a more accurate description in this case.
The X-ray tracings and palatograms of the Polish and Chinese fricatives
I have seen are consistent with such a description.
