inscribing Pali letters on stone

Dear all,

I have long been interested in the art of lettering and calligraphy which
began in the early 60s at high school.and at art college. I enjoy looking
through books with examples from hand-lettered MSS. One can also apply the
art form to writng out Pali, and in different scripts too if so desired.

I recently came up with the idea of finding out if I could also inscribe
Pali letters on slabs of stone which I have never attempted before. I don't
have the tools nor the stones at hand but will in a few weeks time when I
return to my cottage retreat. During the meantime, I can searcg the web
for information and books on this : how to go about it, the tools needed
(hand tools only), suitable stones, etc. It would be an accomplishment to be
able to inscribe a single Pali letter on stone.

Has anyone had any experience with this?
