Thanks to all who responded to Sergiy's query and to mine about any
canonical passage to compaare with "Know thyself". I think the one in
the Anguttarnikaya that Phra Yuttadhammo found in following up on
Chanida's suggestion supports the combination of attaana.m and
jaanaahi.
Ma Vajira informed me of an error she made in the spelling of jaanaahi
and jaana.
I have collected all the responses and sent them on to Sergiy in one
message.
I noticed that a new way of typing the special Pali characters has
appeared which I first noticed in a recent post by Ven. Nyanatusita
and since then a few other members have been using it as well. The
scheme uses 'a-' instead of 'aa' or 'ā'. I think this could be
confusing for some since the hyphen is sometimes used to separate
members of a compound. I think it is best to avoid it and stick to
Velthuis or UTF-8. The Harvard-Kyoto convention is also acceptable but
seldom used on this list.
It's good to see Mahinda posting his first message here on the list.
Ma Vajira contributed a lot to the Kaccayana series around the end of
last year and the beginning of this year but is now very busy
presumably with teaching commitments in Myanmar.
Best wishes,
Jim
