That's brilliant... and led me to find an instance of "attaana.m
jaaneyya" in the tipitaka (AN 7.7.4):
"attaññu- ca katham. hoti? idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu atta-nam.
ja-na-ti `ettakomhi saddha-ya si-lena sutena ca-gena pañña-ya
pat.ibha-nena-'ti. no ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhu *atta-nam. ja-neyya*
`ettakomhi saddha-ya si-lena sutena ca-gena pañña-ya pat.ibha-nena-'ti,
nayidha `attaññu-'ti vucceyya. yasma- ca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu atta-nam.
ja-na-ti `ettakomhi saddha-ya si-lena sutena ca-gena pañña-ya
pat.ibha-nena-'ti, tasma- `attaññu-'ti vuccati. iti dhammaññu-,
atthaññu-, attaññu-.
The meaning is optative rather than imperative, but at least it is
canonical :)
