Yes I agree the whole passage seems corrupt;  for one thing,  the monks have only half the meditation subject, the cessation without the rising.  it looks like by the time this story was written down some editors/scribes did not understand the phonological problems which could lead to water-herons and clothes-heaps instead of Dharma.
