Dhammapadaṃ, 2. Appamādavaggo (Carefulness), Verse 25

uṭṭhānenappamādena | saṃyamena damena ca ||
dīpaṃ kayirātha medhāvī | yaṃ ogho nābhikīrati || 25 ||

25. By rousing himself, by earnestness, by restraint and control,
       the wise man may make for himself an island which no flood
            can overwhelm.
