Dear Ole and Jim,

I replied to your message a few days ago, but now noticed that my
message did not get through for some reason. Here it is again.

Dear Ole,

I sent Tamara Ditrich's email address to your private address. It might
still work but it seems to me that she has moved from the University of
Queensland to the University of Sydney. So in that case you will need to
ask her email address the Buddhist Studies Department of that University.
Perhaps there is a Pegu Edition of the Tipitaka available here in Sri
Lanka. Perhaps in the library of the Temple of the Tooth or in the
Burmese Rest in Kandy. I will make inquiries. There are many Burmese
monks in Sri Lanka who might be able to help.
However, I think that it will be more interesting and useful to
digitalize the Burmese Pali manuscripts scattered in various temple
libraries in Sri Lanka. Many of them would predate the Fifth Council. If
some institute is willing to support it, then perhaps some of the
Burmese monks studying here could find the manuscripts and photograph them.
If a Pegu edition is found then I could arrange that it is photographed
or scanned and put online at GRETIL.
The Pali text of the Buddha Jayanthi edition of the Digha Nikaya has
been scanned in at the BPS and Dr Gruenendahl put it online at
http://opac.sub.uni-goettingen.de/DB=1.20/SET=5/TTL=2/FAM?PPN=605304203
The rest of the Sutta Pitaka is being prepared by him and Dr
Kieffer-Pulz for putting online and should be on the website soon. I
will keep you informed.

Regards,
             Bhikkhu Nyanatusita
