U Nandisena's translation of Kaccaayana's Naamakappa

Over the past two weeks, I have received some etext files from Florent
Robert, a new member of our group. These files are very helpful for those
who are interested in the study of Kaccaayana's grammar. The first file is U
Nandisena's translation of the Naama Kappa which contains five ka.n.das (Kc
52-270). It is a relatively new translation. The following info is found at
the end of the translation:

"I.T.B.M.U" stands for the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary
University in Yangon. Here's a sample (for Kc 208 which I have converted
into Velthuis):

208. 166. AAro rassam ikaare (424).
AAraadeso rassam aapajjate ikaare pare.
When "i" follows, [the vowel "aa" of] the substitute "aara" is shortened.

- Satthari, pitari, maatari, dhÊtari, kattari, vattari.
Example: Satthari [stem: satthu; sense: in/at/on the teacher]
= satthu + smi.m
= satthaara + smi.m (by 200)
= satthaara + i (by 206)
= satthara + i (by 208)
= satthari (by 83)

The original file is a document file (Kaccayana2NamaChapter.doc) of about
1mb in size and requires the vz.ttf font to read it.  From this file I have
created a simplified version (406kb) in Velthuis in RTF format. Everything
is preserved except for the graphics and red colouring of the translation.

Florent also sent me another file (zipped) containing a number of files
including the whole of the Kaccaayana text edited by U Silananda and U
Nandisena plus half of the Nyaasa text typed in by Soe Yu Paing. I'm not yet
sure what condition the Kaccaayana text is in but I have started working
through the Nyaasa and checking it with my own printed 1929 copy which is a
different version. The etext is in need of proofreading and so I have been
going through the text and editing it to match closely my printed copy. I'm
hoping to find the rest of the Nyaasa etext which can help me to produce a
complete and reliable etext that could be made freely available.

According to a conversation Florent had with U Nandamaala, two .tiikaas on
the Nyaasa have been published but copies are rare and so Florent is on the
lookout for any in Myanmar.
