khajjati: (passive form of khaadati) is eaten, chewed.
khajja: (gerund of khajjati) having been eaten, chewed.
In context, khajja is better understood as "having been consumed".
khajjasi, I believe, is a compound:
khajja-aasi >> khajja-(aa)si >> khajjasi
aasi is the aorist form of atthi.
