Dear Jo,

It is very gracious of you to apologize (which you should not have) and to
thank us,
(which is only reflects your graciousness). I am the one who must apologize
for not
putting you at ease for your fervent curiosity in Pali and the Dharma at the
very start.

In seeking the Dharma, it's all right to make "mistakes". For this is how we
learn.
As long as we put the teaching above the teachers, and keep on asking for
the sake
of wisdom, that is.

It is not as if because of your unskillness that we are more skillful. GB
Shaw once
said, "There are bad women because there are good women." But sarcasm only
shows one side of the speaker.

My point is that the goodness in one should if possible bring out the better
in others.

Please be very patient with us on this website (or any website for that
matter), because
we speak as if we know others inside out, when we do not even really know
our own
selves very well.

It is good if we see every effort we exert here and to any being as a way of
knowing ourself
better. I see Pali as a great tool of knowing the very ancient, if not
earliest, teachings of
the Buddha (despite what the scholars say).

May we happily and carefully examine the words we use, so that as we look
deeply, we see
our greater wisdom. This is the beginning of self-knowledge.
