sa~n~naa 'perception' and sa~njaanaati 'he/she perceives' are derived from the same root,
given by Warder as (~n)~naa. Also the prefix is the same, sa.m. But the present stem of the
verb is jaanaa; Warder notes this irregularity on page 96. Also, sandhi between a prefix and a
verb stem is external, not internal; that is, they are treated as separate words. See Warder,
page 218.
