This attitude is one of the things that I admire about Chinese culture. I'd like to add that I'm happy that Virupa Arya Shi Fu is here because there are many different directions from which a person can become interested in Pali. Chinese martial arts is certainly one of them, and I believe that such diversity can only make the group more interesting.

I suppose some Buddhists might be skeptical about a Buddhist teaching hand-to-hand fighting skills because they involve violence. However I agree with those who say it can be a good way to reach out to rougher youngsters and give them focus and an interest in moral conduct. This is just one of many benefits of this sort of training.
