Just a grammatical afterthought: I analyse the syntax of the clause ye te
santaa vimokkhaa atikkamma rüpe äruppä te na käyena phusitvä viharati as
follows: the absolutive atikamma is to be construed with ye te santaa
vimokkhaa having transcended those vimokkhas that exist (santaa) in the
ruupa realm (loc.) he does not abide in thre aaruppa vimokkhas.

attainment of jhanas per se.
