Dear Nina, Everett and friends,
thanks. The PED refers atthika to attha, which can be gain, profit or
(sometimes) wealth. In this case, atthika will be profitable, good,
proper.
Can we say that atthikavaada is a term that refers to
philophical/religious teachings about merits (profit), especially
rewards in the next life, or just simple talk about merits?
metta,
Yong Peng

The P.T.S. has:
It is an empty lie, mere idle talk, when men say there is profit
therein.
