Dear Pali friends,

The Brahmavihara Sutta (A 10.208) has a fascinating sentence:

citt'antaro aya.m bhikkhave macco

which Nyanaponika/Bodhi ("Numerical Discourses of the Buddha") translate as:
"Mortals have consciousness as the connecting link" (A:NB 269).

Possible alternate translations are:

(A) "Monks, this mortal life is an intermediate state of mind."
(B) "Monks, this mortal life is an intermediate state of consciousness."
(C) "Monks, man (macco) is but an intermediate-state consciousness."

Any thoughts, anyone.

Sukhi.

Piya.
