Dear Pali friends,

I have an interesting problem in connection with translating the
Malunkyaputta Sutta (M 22), that is, the compound, variously translated:

di.t.thi-.t,.thaan^aadhi.t.thaana,pariyu.t.thaanaa'bhinivesaa'nusaya
Grounds for Views,...prejudices, obsessions, dogmas and
biases. (Nyanaponika, Wheel series 48/49 (1974)
standpoints, decisions, obsessions, adherences, and underlying
tendencies (Nyanamoli/Bodhi, M:~NB, 2001)
fixation to grounds for views, obsessions, mindsets and latent
tendencies (Piya's proposal)

I have translated adhi.t.thaana as "fixation" (based on CPD: adhi-.t.thaana 2).

Opinions please.

Sukhi.

P.
