Dear Dimitry, Derek, Ven. Kumara, Piya, John, Robert Eddison, Robert
Kirkpatrick, Andy, Bruce, Teng Kee, Henry and all friends,

I would like to propose a project section on tipitaka network
(http://www.tipitaka.net) for sutta translation. Dimitry and Derek
had previously made a successful attempt and the sutta is now been
added to Access to Insight.

My proposal is simple. Good translation is only possible with a good
knowledge of the Pali language, a solid foundation of buddhist
doctrine, as well as a good understanding of the relevance of
Buddha's words in our present context (21st century). So, it will be
a huge undertaking for a single person (as in the cases of Bhikkhus
Bodhi and Thanissaro). But, if we work as a group, we can possibly
churn out good translations that can add on or complement those that
are currently available.

It would be good if Dimitry or Derek can select a sutta for
translation, and we will treat it as an exercise to enhance our Pali
skills, reinforce our dhamma knowledge and contribute to the buddhist
community. I will also serve the role of an administrator to set up
and maintain the site. I think it's a great opportunity of us to
learn and share.
