Does anyone know if Hattic numerals have been recovered or not? If
I could get my hands on those numerals it would help me figure out
whether Hattic is truely NWCish or not.
After much extrapolation, I came to one interesting conclusion. Basically,
if Hattic is related closely to NWC, then any inherited numerals should
demonstrate a distinctly SinoDene pattern. For
instance, if "seven" is *senyat in SinoDene, based on NWC and
SinoTibetan, then we should see something similar in Hattic.
Deduction has led me to the conclusion that we should see
something like *senna in a Balkan-situated ProtoHattic, eventually
becoming *senda (Note a personal observation: *winnu > Hattic
/windu-/ "wine"). If so, why is it that this numeral occurs in
_Hurrian_ instead? Looks like mutual influence. Certainly if
Hurrian is more closely related to NEC (which I'm more sure of),
then we should see something more along the lines of what is found
in NEC (that is, something entirely different *worL). Since
attributing Hurrian /sinda/ to Semitic is rather a painful
phonetic exercise, is it possible that /sinda/ is a late Hattic
loan?
And again, if anyone has any real info on Hattic numerals, please talk to
me. I will love you for it.
