Þorgerður svarar máli hans og sagði eigi spara þurfa að vinna ógrunsamlega að við Bolla, bað þá ganga milli bols og höfuðs.
Thorgerdur answers his speaking and said not to spare (the) need to kill unsuspiciously (?) against Bolli, asked then to slay one. (Z. bolr 2 - ganga milli bols ok höfuðs á e-m, to pass between one's trunk and head, to slay one.)

Bolli stóð þá enn upp við selsvegginn og hélt að sér kyrtlinum að eigi hlypu út iðrin.
Bolli then still stood up against the wall of the shed and held fast to him the shirt (so) that his intestines did not run out.

Then Steinthor Olafsson attacked Bolli and struck at him with an axe to the neck by the shoulders and at once the head went off.

Þorgerður bað hann heilan njóta handa, kvað nú Guðrúnu mundu eiga að búa um rauða skör Bolla um hríð.
Thorgerdur said hail to him have use for, stated Gudrun would now have to live around Bolli's red shoes a while.

Eftir þetta ganga þeir út úr selinu.
After this they go out from the hut.

Gudrun then goes down from beyond the brook and to then talk with Halldor and asked what had become news in their, Bolli's and his, fighting.

Þeir segja slíkt sem í hafði gerst.
They told such as had happened.

Gudrun was in a kirtle made of námdúkr (thus saith Zoega) and with the narrow folded upper part of the kirtle and a large headdress on (her) head.

She had tied about her a kerchief with blue stripes and fringes at the end. (Z. traf - fringe; hón hafði knýtt um sik blæju ok vóru í mörk blá ok tröf fyrir enda, a kerchief with blue marks or stripes and fringes at the ends

Helgi Hardbeinsson went to Gudrun and took the end of a cloth and dried blood from the spear, the same with which he put through Bolli.

Guðrún leit til hans og brosti við.
Gudrun looked towards him and smiled in reply.

The Halldor said: "This is inhumanely and cruelly done."

Helgi bað hann eigi það harma "því að eg hygg það," segir hann, "að undir þessu blæjuhorni búi minn höfuðsbani."
Helgi bade him not to let that vex him "because I think that," she says, "that under this corner of a cloth lived my destruction."

Síðan tóku þeir hesta sína og riðu í brott.
Then they took his horse and rode away.

Guðrún gekk á veg með þeim og talaði við þá um hríð.
Gudrun went on the way with them and talked with them a while.

Síðan hvarf hún aftur.
Then she turned back.

Af mönnum Halldórs
Concerning Halldor's Men

Það ræddu þeir förunautar Halldórs að Guðrúnu þætti lítið dráp Bolla er hún slóst á leiðiorð við þá og átti allt tal við þá svo sem þeir hefðu ekki að gert það er henni væri í móti skapi.
They, Halldor's companions, discussed that, that it seemed little to Gudrun to kill Bolli, when she took to walking and talking with them and had conversation with all them so as they didn't have done that which to her would be against (her) thinking (Z. has "condition of mind, temper, mood").

Þá svarar Halldór: "Ekki er það mín ætlan að Guðrúnu þyki lítið lát Bolla.
Then Halldor answers: "It is not my intention that Gudrun think little of Bolli's death.

Hygg eg að henni gengi það meir til leiðiorðs við oss að hún vildi vita sem gerst hverjir menn hefðu verið í þessi ferð.
I think that would have gone (past subjunctive) more to conversation with us that she wanted to know as which men became had been in this journey.

And it is not an exaggeration that Gudrun is much ahead of other women concerning all nobleness.

This is also in accordance with hope (plural in Old Icelandic, I believe), that Gudrun thought much of Bolli's death because that is true to say that after such men who would more harm as Bolli was yet that we relatives would not carry goodluck to (being) at peace.
