I have read that, too, from sources that should know much more about it than I do. However, it occurs to me that the men would know not to wear the shirt, otherwise they are going to be divorced. Is it possible that just giving the shirt was the equivalent of saying you were going to divorce the person? Or did the men ignorantly put on the open neck shirts and then the women divorced them? The latter seems kind of strange....
