A parallel to Gunnar and Njáll? Gunnar's fit of conscience reminded
me of the moment in Huckelberry Finn where Huck feels guilty after
helping Jim to escape. We know the character's instincts are good,
but (in each case) he isn't so sure, judging himself against the
morality of his time.
