was a fault in Mord's chieftainship that he failed to recover the
dowry, even though he himself brought the action." Zoega/CV mention
the idiom 'e-m verðr á' or 'verðr á fyrir e-m' "one makes a blunder,

paraphrasing here, as this is the 3rd person sg. of 'drepa'. What is
the subject; is it impersonal "and so the case was thrown out"?
